Oakham Boarding Summer Term 2022
Oakham’s boarders have been making the most of the sunny weather this term with plenty of outdoor activities and day trips.
Hodges boarders have enjoyed an action- packed programme including outings to the cinema to watch Dr Strange and Top Gun, curry night at ’10 Dining Street’, a trip to the Escape Rooms and The Wave – Coventry Waterpark. They also participated in an African Drum workshop.
The girls in Stevens, Buchanans and Rushebrookes have enjoyed hog roasts, barbeques, day trips to Cambridge, special dinners, ‘Just Dance’ nights, Zorb football, aqua park as well as playing football and rounders on Doncaster close.
The boys in Wharflands, Chapmans and Haywoods have been competing in house sporting competitions, having fun at Rutland aqua park, and enjoying dinners and barbeques. A highlight for Chapmans boys was raising over £800 for Macmillan Cancer with their sponsored assault course run.
Several boarders have written interesting blogs about their ‘boarding at Oakham’ experiences, which can be found in the Oakham blog section of the website. One blog is by Form 6 pupil Samuel on his transition from day pupil to flex-boarder and another by Form 3 pupil Hannah on her move to Oakham School from Germany.
Senior Housemistress, Mrs Carly Latham, said, “The boarders have enjoyed a diverse range of activities and experiences this term with lots of learning, challenges, mindful moments, friendship and fun! We wish everyone a lovely summer holiday and look forward to seeing all the pupils coming back in September.”
