Our final concert in this year’s Professional Music in the Chapel series takes place on Thursday 19 May, when we are delighted to present a violin & piano duo performance at 7.30pm. Oakham’s Head of Piano, Anne Bolt, will rekindle her longstanding partnership with violinist Annebeth Webb, who is a member of the prestigious Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Holland.
Their varied programme offers a taste of sonatas from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras, opening with Handel’s Sonata in D major, HWV 371. A short Mozart sonata follows (No. 18 in G major) before a short interlude from Clara Schumann – her beautiful Three Romances, op. 22. Saint-Saëns’ remarkable first sonata offers an exciting finale to their recital, after which audience members are welcome to meet the performers over a drink.
