Amy Goes for Gold at British Schools Judo Championships

Congratulations to Form 7 pupil Amy who has won a gold medal at the British Schools Judo Championships.

Amy fought extremely hard throughout and gained Ippons – the highest score a fighter can achieve – in all of her fights meaning she was able to win the gold medal for the U70’s Year 12/13 category.

This was Amy’s last time representing Oakham School in the championship and she is overjoyed with the result.

She said: “After competing at this event for many years, achieving a bronze and silver medal previously, I am very proud and delighted to have finally won the gold medal. Especially as it was my last chance to do so before leaving School.”

Prior to this, Amy also competed in the British Judo English Open, a national point scoring competition, where she gained a bronze medal.
