Last weekend saw two alumni scrum-halves captaining their Premiership clubs, and another Old Oakhamian make his senior Premiership Rugby debut.
Jack Van Poortvliet (’19) captained Leicester Tigers in a 32-23 Premiership Cup win against Sale Sharks.
Jack is no stranger to success on the pitch, having led England U20s to a Grand Slam victory in the recent U20s Six Nations. Jack also scored 2 tries on 30 October after appearing as a substitute in the traditional East Midlands Derby fixture against Northampton Saints.
Meanwhile, Sam Wolstenholme (’17) captained Wasps against Newcastle Falcons. Sam joined Wasps from the 2019-2020 season, making his debut for Wasps against Saracens in the Premiership Rugby Cup at the start of the 2019-2020 season.
Congratulations also to Old Oakhamian Jacob Cusick (’21), who made his senior competitive debut playing for Leicester Tigers in the clash against Sale Sharks under the captaincy of his fellow Old Oakhamian Jack. Jacob said, “The atmosphere was so good…it was nice to get on…. Now I will just keep on working and will see what comes my way.”
