Last term saw Form 6 pupils enjoy an adventure day in the Derbyshire Dales as part of their learning experience beyond the classroom.
The group participated in various activities including rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, scrambling and bushcraft.
“I really enjoyed canoeing, scrambling and abseiling, said Sixth Former Sarah. “I also liked fire building – partly because we were given marshmallows! As well as being fun, these activities gave me a sense of self-confidence and achievement. I was able to meet some new people in my year group and have since become friends with people who I’d not had the chance to meet before.”
Head of Upper School, Megan Fairley said, “We loved spending the day with such resilient, positive and hilarious young adults. The pupils bonded and made the most of the opportunities at hand. They thrived on the challenges, which pushed them out of their comfort zones.”
Oakham’s Activities Programme is a key element of School life, providing its pupils with the chance to discover where their passions lie and develop their hidden talents.
