Congratulations to Max W and Emily, who were the U17 and U19 county winners respectively of the Leicestershire County Squash competition that was held at the beginning of September. Well done also to the runners up Tilly (U15 girls), Zara (U19 girls) and Max L (U19 boys).
Form 7 pupil Max L reports:
“For the U19 girls, Oakham girls captain Emily M played Oakham’s number two Zara S. Emily won 11-4, 11-7, 11-8 with Zara finishing second place.
For the U17 boys, Max W played in a round robin of 3 and won his first match: 11-5, 11-4, 12-10. He then won his second match 11-5, 11-9, 11-8 to secure the U17 county champion title.
Tilly D was runner up in the U15 Girls losing 6-11,5-11, 0-11 (0-3) in the final.
I played my first match winning, 11-9, 11-8, 8-11, 11-5. I then had my second match and was losing 0-2 and I was match point down. I then came back to win the match 3-2 and secured a place in the final ( 8-11, 9-11, 12-10, 11-8, 11-9). I then lost in the final 0-3 but won the U19’s county runner up spot.”
