Meghan Goodeve, curator and educator, who works for Yorkshire Sculpture International, gave an engaging virtual talk about her work to Form 6 pupils of Critical and Contextual Studies.
Director of Art, Elinor Brass, tells us more:-
“We were delighted to welcome Meghan virtually this morning. Meghan talked about her career and how she went from studying History of Art at the Courtauld Institute in London to developing programmes for participation in galleries across the country.
Among other things, her talk covered working with artists, commissioning new work, engaging communities in art projects and running art festivals. She also considered the powerful impact that art can have in improving people’s lives and the challenges of working during COVID-19 times.
The discourse gave pupils an interesting insight into the importance of participation in the planning of exhibitions and how central it is to the funding of projects. They were introduced to projects developed for community groups who might not normally engage with art and galleries as well as discussing the challenges of working with artists.”
