This year’s senior maths challenge, run by the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT), saw a total of 16 Oakhamians achieve awards, including an impressive collection of 7 Gold awards!
Form 7 pupils Cynthia and James were awarded ‘Best in School’ along with ‘Best in Year’, a Gold certificate and qualified for the British Mathematical Olympiad.
Form 6 pupil Zsolti was awarded ‘Best in Year’, a Gold certificate and qualified for the next round, the ‘Senior Kangaroo’.

The national competition comprises of a series of difficult questions and problem solving activities that are carried out under exam conditions. To recognise the highest performers, the top 60% of participants are awarded a Gold, Silver or Bronze award depending on their final score.
Teacher of Mathematics, Mr David Russell said, “This year’s results for the UK Maths Competition are excellent. The test is designed to make our pupils think and engage with the problems and to see so many do so well is fantastic.”
