Congratulations to four talented Hockey players selected for the National Age Group (NAGS) Assessments, which will take place during Half Term.
Daisy, (Form 4) Violet (Form 4), Immi (Form 6) and Christopher (Form 7) were nominated by their coaches because of their continuous high-level performances. Violet also made an impression after making her Premier League hockey debut for Beeston, playing alongside fellow pupil Becca Malyon and OO Alice Huddlestone.
Due to COVID-19 safety measures, the assessments will be taking place in regions this year and the pupils will be assessed at Lilleshall National Sports Centre.
Their hockey accomplishment follows last year’s NAGS assessment when three Oakhamians Tilly, Becca and Ben were successfully selected to play for NAGS.
Well done also to the 22 talented Oakhamians who have been selected to play for the Leicestershire and Rutland County Squads.
Mr James Bateman, Director of Hockey said, “It is fantastic to see so many players consistently playing at such a high level at this School. They have worked hard to get to this stage and I am incredibly proud of them. It will be exciting to see their development in the coming months.”
These outstanding achievements reinforces the fact that Oakham is one of the top hockey-playing schools in the country and emphasises the quality of the sport that is being taught and played at the School.
