Oakham through to the Quarter Final of the U18 National Schools Cup
Oakham’s U18 XV Rugby team continued to excel this week with victory in the U18 Schools Cup Regional Final.
Playing before a bumper crowd and live-streamed by NextGenXV, the boys performed magnificently against a strong Stowe team, winning 27-24.
First half tries by Toby and Elliott, and a penalty and conversions by Ben levelled the side with Stowe at halftime (17-17). A second half try by Oliver, with a conversion and penalty from Ben, completed the scoring (27-24).
Director of Sport Iain Simpson said, “This was a big win for the boys. Having lost to Stowe as U15s in the semi-final of the national cup and then again in the final at Rosslyn Park last year, they got across the line in an incredible game. It was also wonderful to have all the Lower School boys cheering them on.”
Director of Rugby Andy Rice, added, “The boys have been having a fantastic season, continuing to make progress this term.”
The team is now waiting to discover who they will be facing in the in Quarter final of the Schools Cup. Good luck!
