This week’s Music at Lunchtime concert was given by Form 6 Music Scholar, Ethan, who performed a programme of challenging solo piano repertoire.
In a meditative and reflective opening, Ethan performed Debussy’s Rêverie, before moving on to an exciting performance of a movement of Dvořák’s piano duet work Legends, joined by Head of Piano, Anne Bolt. Ethan finished his recital with a Toccata from JS Bach’s Partita No. 6. After its dramatic opening, the work developed into an intricate fugue – Ethan proved himself more than equal to this substantial pianistic challenge!
Ethan’s recital was a stunning conclusion to a fantastic lunchtime recital series this year. Congratulations to all our performers for their contributions to this event, which is so highly valued within the School and wider community. After the summer holidays, lunchtime recitals resume in the Winter Term, with the first on Wednesday 6 September 2023.
