Over the past weekend, Lower School boarding house Hodges hosted a boarder taster weekend for prospective and current pupils who are looking to explore boarding life here at Oakham School.
The first stop was to visit Miss Smith in Design and Technology where the pupils were tasked with making their own soaps, which pupils took with them after the session.
Following this floral-scented fun, the pupils headed back to Lower School to try out some outdoor cooking with our DofE Quarter Master Mrs Fearn. In small groups, pupils waited patiently for their pancakes to cook and their hot chocolate to warm up before satisfying their sweet cravings.
Fortunately, the rain was avoided during the BBQ before finishing off with a wonderful evening full of films and games in-house.
Our Boarder Taster Weekends are a great way for parents and their children to gain insight into boarding and how it fits into family life.
Stephanie, mother of current pupil explained that her daughter had been invited on a boarder taster weekend whilst at a boarding school exhibition in Dubai.
So, she came on the taster weekend. During the weekend, she decided that she wanted to come here the following term, and she just turned 10.
