Oakham Community Enjoys Countdown to Christmas
Oakham School’s pupils and staff have been enjoying the countdown to Christmas with decorations, dinners, Decem challenges and dancing.
The Oakham School campus has been filled with Christmas lights and trees, with all 16 Houses shining with festive decorations. Pupils in the different areas of the School have enjoyed a series of Christmas-themed parties and dinners: a hog roast in the Lower School, Christmas Dinners in the Barraclough Dining Hall for the Middle School Houses, followed by entertainment within their Houses. Meanwhile Form 7 pupils in Round House and School House rounded off the term with an outdoor après-ski inspired Christmas party, complete with silent disco in the School House quad.
The Form 7 Charity Decem Prefects organised 12 Christmas-inspired daily challenges and activities for teachers and pupils to complete in the 12 days leading up to the end of term, to raise money and awareness for LOROS and the Matt Hampson Foundation.
he challenges included a Christmas quiz, a hot chocolate sale, a clothes donation drive, a chocolate Santa delivery, and Christmas ornament decorating.
The weather also played its part in providing a festive look to the campus by snowing on the first Sunday in December. For one magical day there were snowy scenes across all areas of the School.
