Oakham School’s D&T Department hosted the Family STEM Challenge where pupils from Witham Hall, St Hugh’s WHS, and St Johns College School came together for some friendly competition.
The afternoon brought pupils, parents and teachers together for an afternoon filled with innovation, creativity, and learning.
Children teamed up with their adult family members to complete a challenge inspired by Dick Darstly’s Catch the Pigeon. Teams were tasked with designing and producing their own model aeroplanes that could be launched and ultimately ‘catch the pigeon’.
Children and adults joined forces to compete against other pairings with the aim being to add their longest flights together to give a total flight distance.
The pairing with the longest flight won a 3D printer, with second and third winning a 3D printing pen.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event such an enjoyable afternoon!
