As an educational charity, we are committed to making Oakham School as accessible as possible to members of the local community.
Below are examples of recent partnerships between Oakham School and local organisations.
Music in the Community
Oakham Choral Society is run by the School’s staff for the local community. It performs major choral works twice a year. Some of the School’s more accomplished solo singers and instrumentalists perform with this choir. For further information, please visit Oakham Choral Society. With an annual programme of over 80 musical performances each year, almost all of which are open to the community free of charge, including the popular weekly Music at Lunchtime Concert series, Oakham’s Music Department is very busy. We also host events (free of charge) for local primary schools, such as singing days or music workshops.
Oakham’s Phab Club
Our Voluntary Action pupils work closely with the national charity organisation Phab to provide social activities for disabled young people from local groups including Aiming High and The Rutland Disabled Youth Forum. These include sports and craft activities and Christmas and Easter parties.
Harington School
Oakham School worked together with Catmose College and Uppingham Community College to sponsor Harington School, a Sixth Form Free School that opened in 2015 in Rutland. Staff from Oakham and Harington School work together to support pupils who are wishing to apply for clinical courses at university by jointly holding interview practice sessions and hosting seminars and talks from external speakers.
