When children join Oakham School from overseas, they embark on an exciting and enriching adventure that continues throughout senior school.

They are welcomed into a supportive, ambitious community which represents children from over 38 different countries. Every day brings new opportunities to explore, grow, and make lifelong friends.

We have created a dedicated section of our website to provide you with lots of helpful information. Please browse these details, and then do please get in touch with us should you have any questions, via admissions@oakham.rutland.sch.uk

International Entry Process

Children applying to join Oakham School will be invited to sit entrance assessments and have an interview. These assessments allow us to get to know each child as an individual and understand their personal strengths.

Assessments can take place either in person at Oakham School or in a local educational agent’s office or at a British Council office. Interviews can be hosted over a video call and will include time to discuss the right subject options for older pupils. We welcome applications throughout the year whenever spaces are available.

The assessment consists of an online CAT4 reasoning test in addition to written papers in Maths and English as an Additional Language (EAL) paper.

We will also request copies of two recent report your child’s current school, which gives us an insight into their day-to-day capabilities.

Joining our Community

When joining Oakham School pupils become part of a vibrant community, enjoying specialised facilities, experienced teachers, and engaging activities with peers.

To prepare for all this, pupils attend an online Familiarisation Day in June and an in-person Induction Day in September to meet fellow pupils and key staff. These events ensure a smooth transition to School and create excitement for the year ahead.
