Big Band Wow in Whitwell

The School’s acclaimed Big Band travelled just a few miles outside Oakham for their first performance of the term on Sunday 23 April. They returned to Whitwell Church for the first time since COVID, and helped the Church raise nearly £1,000 towards their Fabric Fund.

Despite having to squeeze all the musicians into the church, the band presented a really diverse and entertaining musical programme, interspersing instrumental and vocal solos with performances by the full band. From the opening groove of ‘Soul Bossa Nova’, the audience knew that they were in for a treat, with Mr Foster engagingly introducing each of the numbers before leading the band from the trumpet.
