Busy Summer for Oakham School
Over the Summer holidays, Oakham School welcomed hundreds of visitors attending a variety of courses and events.
Young learners enjoyed a residential English language course that also offered other activities such as football coaching and horseriding.
Oakham hosted the English Schools Cricket Association National Finals event -U15, U13 and U11 Finals. Schools competing included Forest School and Stamford U15s, Kings School and Dulwich U13s and Kings Hall. Teams from Lochinver House, Old Buckenham Hall, Blue Coat School, New Beacon School, Whitgift School, Twyford Prep. School and Manchester Grammar School also competed.
Oakham was the venue for a popular 4-day Tom Flowers Cricket Residential Camp, delivered by ECB-qualified coaches.
During the Global Birdfair in July, the School provided bed and breakfast accommodation.
In August there was the European Youth Music Week, an annual course for young instrumentalists offering the chance to play great symphonic and chamber repertoire.
Another highlight of the summer was the training camps and football festivals for academy football teams from around the world, led by Tom Statham Soccer. Teams that were onsite this year included Virginia Rush, Boston Bolts, Napa Utd, Futuro Canada and NCE (New York) from America and Canada. From the UK we have had Man Utd, Newcastle, Arsenal, Sunderland, Shrewsbury, Norwich, Aston Villa, ISFA, Brighton, Galway, Cliftonville and Accrington Stanley.
Commercial and Sports Facilities Manager, Conrad Nancarrow, said, “It has been wonderful to welcome back visitors this summer, especially after the restrictions over the past couple of years, and we have had great feedback. We have enjoyed meeting enthusiastic groups of young people, from all over the world, who have been improving their music, football, cricket, tennis, language skills and more.”
Oakham School provides top-level venue space to a wide range of commercial ventures during the Easter, summer and some half-term holidays. Event Managers and Group Organisers are welcome to visit the School to explore the campus and experience the welcoming atmosphere and delicious catering.
