Congratulations to OO Lyndon James for his new two-year deal with Nottinghamshire CCC

The Oakham School community would like to extend their warmest congratulations to Old Oakhamian Lyndon James (17) who has signed a new two-year deal with Nottinghamshire CCC.

The Academy graduate first joined the Nottinghamshire setup aged ten, and went onto progress through the county’s representative sides. After leaving Oakham School, he made his Nottinghamshire First-Class debut on 10 September 2018 v Essex at Trent Bridge.

“I loved my 5 years of cricket at Oakham – being lucky enough to be coached by 3 amazing coaches in Frank Hayes, Neil Johnson and John Crawley is something I believe helped me improve massively. The facilities were always top drawer and the relationship the school built with Notts at the time made it so easy for me to travel to training and games, so I was able to still dedicate time to cricket as well as focussing on my studies. “

James went on to spend much of his 2019 season captaining the Nottinghamshire Second XI, leading a side which on occasion included the likes of Alex Hales, Joe Clarke, Chris Nash and Ben Duckett.

“Congratulations to Lyndon – it’s brilliant to see his career in Cricket progressing, with his two-year deal with Notts CCC,” says Director of Sport, Iain Simpson.  “We’ll be watching him continuing to develop with interest over the coming years.”

Earlier on in the year, Iain Simpson held interviews with notable sportsmen and women, of which Lyndon was one. Here, they discussed Lyndon’s career highs and lows. To watch the video, click here.
