Oakham School History and Religion & Philosophy Departments took the whole of Form 1 on a cross-curricular trip to Lincoln to explore its historic castle and cathedral.
Teacher of History Ms Susanna Boyd tells us more:-
“The pupils explored the building of Lincoln Castle and enjoyed a guided walk of the castle walls. They saw one of only four remaining copies of the Magna Carta and handled replica armour and weapons to understand battle tactics of the medieval period. The pupils also had great fun acting out the story of King John and the Magna Carta.
The pupils then visited Lincoln Cathedral and had a tour of its key features, which helped develop their understanding of the architecture and craftsmanship needed to create the Cathedral. They also learned more about medieval religious beliefs, and interpretations of the life of Jesus and Christian worship today.”
