Form 6 pupils have been attending several ‘After Oakham’ sessions, held by the Careers Department about the options available to them after Form 7.
Tina Patel from ASK Apprenticeships has given a virtual talk offering lots of information, advice, and guidance. During the webinar seventh former, Sian, who has been offered degree apprenticeships with Unilever and DHL, also chatted about the apprentice application and recruitment process.
Moreover, pupils have been given the opportunity to speak to three external speakers representing universities in Canada, the Netherlands and Australia/NZ about studying abroad.
There have also been classes introducing pupils to the UCAS application process and researching possible courses through the UCAS Hub and the Unifrog software.
Careers and UCAS Co-ordinator, Helen Elliot said, “The sessions are helping to raise awareness, knowledge and understanding of the opportunities and pathways after Oakham and it is great to see the pupils moving forward with their plans and begin thinking about their careers.”
The Careers Department at Oakham School works closely with external partners and contacts, as well as its extensive alumni network, to introduce students to careers and work experience. Numerous events are hosted each year, including a Careers Fair, a HE Fair and hosting external speakers.
