IB Diploma Pupils Celebrate Results
In our 21st year of offering the IB Diploma, we are delighted to share the excellent results that our pupils have achieved this year. Not only have there been notable individual successes, we have once again exceeded the global average.
Overall, 15% of pupils at Oakham who took the IB Diploma achieved 40 or more points out of a possible 45, which is widely acknowledged as equivalent to 4 A* grades at A-level.
One pupil attained a remarkable 45-point score – one of just 25 candidates in the UK to achieve full marks, placing them in the top 1% worldwide. Another pupil reached 44 points, and third scored 43.
Dr Leo Dudin, Deputy Head Academic, said: “Oakham School’s IB Diploma results have consistently been above the global average, and we’re delighted to say we’ve grown that gap compared to last year.
“This cohort of pupils faced significant challenges, with their Middle School experience heavily disrupted by COVID-19 and have shown great strength of character as they navigated the first formal exams of their academic careers. They deserve great credit for the care shown to their studies, as do all those who have supported them over the two-year course.
“Whilst we’re obviously delighted to report strong individual results, the IB Diploma offers a holistic educational programme which very much aligns with our ideals, ensuring all pupils on the course receive an incredibly valuable breadth of experience.”
Thanks to their hard work, Oakhamians have secured places to continue their studies at top universities including Cambridge, Durham, Edinburgh and St Andrews.
