Huge congratulations to our Form 7 (Year 13) Leavers who have achieved an impressive set of A-level and BTEC results today, with 20% awarded A* and 70% A*-B.
Today’s results, together with the strong results our pupils achieved in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma is a testament to their hard work and commitment, and a celebration of success for our Sixth Form as a whole.
Dr Leo Dudin, Deputy Head Academic, commented: “We are very proud of pupils’ results this year and while it is wonderful to see a healthy set of A* grades with many outstanding individual performances, it is also heartening to see other successes that show pupils achieving their potential, which is our ultimate academic goal; all are worthy of celebration.
As we continue to evolve our academic programmes we enter the second year of our Connected Curriculum which is uniquely structured to allow an extra period each week in each subject to focus explicitly on subject-specific skills. This enables pupils to develop as well-rounded academics, armed with the knowledge and skills to thrive as they head towards university and other competitive pathways.”
Headmaster Henry Price added: “I would like to commend our Form 7 Leavers for their hard work and thank their parents and all the staff who have supported them in the classroom and beyond.
Today we applaud academic attainment, but this is only one part of what these pupils have achieved. They have contributed to the School in Music, Drama and Sport. They have been on trips and adventured beyond school. They have acted as role-models and initiated change within school. They have worked hard, made mistakes, made friends, had fun and grown. All of these and much more are precious parts of school life.
Our purpose is to teach pupils the knowledge, skills and values to flourish at Oakham and beyond. I believe that this cohort is well set for all that lies ahead and we all wish them every success and happiness for the future.”
