Congratulations to Form 4 pupil Jacob, who won the 15 years men’s 100m freestyle title at the 2022 Speedo British Summer Championships held at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Sheffield. Jacob’s winning time was an impressive 52:32 sec.
The talented swimmer also finished a close second in the 50m backstroke, made the final in the 200m freestyle and came a close fourth place in 100m backstroke and 50m fly.
Jacob, who trains at Leicester Sharks Swimming Club, is an all-rounder, taking part in nine events at the Championships. He competed in seventeen races including two relays and made six finals.
Director of Sport Iain Simpson said, “A huge well done to Jacob. It is great to see him perform so well at national level, and we are proud of his achievement.”
Jacob is no stranger to medal success having helped Oakham’s U18 team win the Medley relay at the prestigious Stowe Invitational Swimming competition for the first time, late last year. The boys competed in a field above their ages, which made their win even more impressive.
