During this term of Distant Learning, Lower 1 pupils have been learning about the life and works of the famous English playwright, poet and actor William Shakespeare. They have even insulted each other with Shakespearean vocabulary from the safety of their home via Microsoft Teams. This topic coincided with Shakespeare Week, which ran from 15 – 21 March.
Teacher of Lower 1 Mr Matthew Sutterby tells us more:
“Romeo and Juliet was the first obvious play choice to learn about. As well as studying the characters and describing them in only one word, they created modern-day blogs (as either Romeo or Juliet), telling their online followers of their love but also their dilemma! We hope you enjoy reading them as much as the children did writing and editing them. Below are just a few of the wonderful pieces of work.
As suggested by the Royal Shakespeare Company to celebrate the birth of William Shakespeare in April, the pupils also got creative, dressing up and reciting their favourite Shakespearean extract. Below you will also see a final compilation video of their efforts.”
