Launch of Oakham Sport Partnership

28th January 2025

Oakham School is proud to launch the Oakham Sport Partnership, a groundbreaking initiative to enhance the sporting provision, access, opportunity, and experience of all young people in the town of Oakham.

The official launch event, held in Oakham’s BAFS Cricket Pavilion, brought together representatives from 10 different town sports clubs including Oakham Cricket Club, Vale Judo Club, and Oakham Rugby Club, as well as local primary and secondary schools and administrative organisations.

The attendees enjoyed the chance to share their experiences and talk about ways to collaborate, from increasing participation and club memberships to sharing facilities and working together on joint capital development projects.

One of the early successes of the partnership has been a collaboration between Oakham School and the Oakham and Melton Rugby Clubs. This initiative saw 80 girls participate in coaching sessions led by Oakham School staff, marking the first of many impactful community projects to come.

“We are thrilled to launch the Oakham Sport Partnership,” said Dr Iain Simpson, Head of Sports Partnerships at Oakham School.

“By working together, we aim to create a vibrant and inclusive sports culture that benefits young people across the region, ensuring they have access to the best facilities, coaching, and opportunities to grow both on and off the field.”

“The Oakham Sport Partnership represents a shared commitment to nurturing talent, promoting inclusivity, and building a strong foundation for the future of youth sports in the community.”
