Lower school speech day June 2024
Pupils, parents and staff came together to celebrate the end of another successful year in Oakham’s Lower School at their annual Prize Giving Ceremony and Sports Day.
Families gathered on Doncaster Close to participate in a variety of ‘Experience Oakham’ fun activities and quizzes in different subject areas before the formal prize giving began.
The marquee on Doncaster Close then played host to a prize giving ceremony that included uplifting and joyful performances from the Lower School choir and the cast of the fabulous Lower School Production of The Lion King JR.

Headmaster Henry Price reflected on the many successes of the year and urged the audience to consider the summer holidays as a fourth term; a chance to grow and develop beyond the classroom. As well as encouraging everyone to spend time reading books this summer, Henry also advocated spending time watching classic family films together, to enjoy the shared experiences they provide. He spoke of his family’s favourite movies the Disney Pixar films Cars, How to Train your Dragon and Inside Out and the universal messages of humility, friendship and acceptance that they convey.
As well as prizes being awarded for academic, co-curricular and community efforts, there was the traditional Form 2 graduation from the Lower School, which involved the presentation of commemorative House mugs.

After family picnic lunches on Doncaster Close, everyone reconvened on Farside for Lower School Sports Day. With a full list of track and field events, it was a colourful and athletic triumph.
