Our Music at Lunchtime recital on Wednesday 17 January was given by Form 4 music scholar and violinist, Nicola, accompanied by Head of Piano, Anne Bolt.
Nicola performed Bach’s challenging and well-known Violin Concerto in E major, BWV 1042. The opening notes introduced the audience to the concerto’s complex and intricate composition, and Nicola navigated the challenging passages with precision and flair.
Throughout the second movement, Adagio, Nicola demonstrated her ability to convey emotion through her playing, allowing the violin to sing expressively. In the final movement, Allegro assai, Nicola’s nimble fingers and agile bowing enabled her to execute skilfully the lively and spirited conclusion of Bach’s concerto.
Congratulations to Nicola on a fantastic performance. The recording from this recital can be viewed online here.
Next week’s Music at Lunchtime concert will be given by Safi who will be performing a variety of solo Musical Theatre songs.
