Music at Lunchtime: Piano Duo

This week’s Music at Lunchtime recital featured Elsa, a talented Form 5 music scholar, performing alongside Head of Piano, Anne Bolt. Together, they presented a selection of movements from Schumann’s piano duet Bilder aus Osten, Op. 66.

The recital opened with the lively energy of the Lebhaft movement, as both performers conveyed its bright and joyous character with a spirited performance. The second and fourth movements shifted to a gentler, more reflective tone, where the duo’s control and depth shone through in their delicate playing. The fifth movement brought a return to liveliness, with the performers skillfully shaping the emotional contrasts through dynamic shifts. The recital concluded on a joyful note, with the final movement demonstrating their remarkable blend of technical precision and vibrant energy.

Congratulations to both Elsa and Anne Bolt on a beautiful performance that truly captured the spirit and elegance of Schumann’s music!
