Our Music at Lunchtime recital this week was given by Form 4 Music Scholar Elsa, who, together with Mr Cason Kang, performed a selection of pieces for violin and piano.
Elsa began the recital with Vivaldi’s ‘Summer’ from The Four Seasons. She played with energy, bringing to mind the warmth of a summer morning. Elsa handled the technical challenges of Vivaldi’s piece with skill and grace, capturing the liveliness of the season throughout.
Following this, Elsa performed Franck’s ‘Allegro’ from his Sonata in A major, a piece filled with both emotion and considerable technical challenges, for both violin and piano. Elsa and her accompanist Mr Kang navigated the complexities of Franck’s composition with confidence and apparent ease, although neither performer had time to draw breath! It was a real tour de force and the long and heartfelt applause from the audience at the end was fitting for such a stunning performance.
Well done to Elsa and to Mr Kang for an outstanding recital.
The recording from this week’s concert is available online here.
Next week’s concert will be given by piano teachers Inga Liukaityte and Cason Kang, who will be performing a selection of piano music by Bach and Mozart as well as some music from Lithuania. One not to be missed.
