Oakham School was delighted to host Dr Michael Lacewing, who delivered a morning of lectures to Oakham’s A-Level philosophers on topics suggested by the pupils.
Dr Lacewing is Head of Theology and Philosophy at Christ’s Hospital School in West Sussex and author of the AQA A-Level Philosophy textbooks used by the students.
Head of Religion and Philosophy Katie Brett said, “All involved enjoyed a busy morning of engaging lectures on key aspects of the syllabus and important advice on exam skills, followed by an extended opportunity to ask questions. Thank you, Dr Sheppard, for organising this event.”
In the Upper School, the Religion and Philosophy Department offers A-level Religious Studies (OCR), A-level Philosophy (AQA), and International Baccalaureate Philosophy at Higher and Standard Level. Students are taught by passionate subject specialists at every stage and are encouraged to engage in in-depth, critical debate about key religious and philosophical issues.
