Oakham School Commends GCSE Pupils
Despite a challenging few years for GCSE pupils, Oakham School is commending its students who have received their results today.
Whilst missing a consistent rhythm of learning during the pandemic, Headmaster Henry Price has applauded the pupils on their ability to overcome the challenges they have faced and the admirable grades they have achieved.
Three fifths of Oakham pupils achieved grades 9-7 (equivalent to A*-A), with one fifth of grades awarded being 9s.
Other highlights include:
- One pupil achieved an impressive 11 grade 9s
- 5 pupils achieved 10 or more grade 9s
- 14 pupils achieved straight 8/9 grades
Henry Price said: “I applaud all our Oakham GCSE pupils, and pupils across the country for their results today. Whilst we have been proud of our lockdown learning and staying connected, the disruption and uncertainty of the last three years for this cohort has been significant. The fact that so many have achieved such admirable grades is a tribute to them and all who have supported them.”
“Well done to all pupils and I wish them good luck as they set off on their new academic adventures. Finally, I would like to acknowledge and thank parents and colleagues for their care and courage through periods when everyone was stretched, supporting pupils, and supporting each other.”
These grades echo the high standard of A-level and IB Diploma results achieved over the summer.
