Oakham School’s Director of Netball Lauren Nicholls starred in the Loughborough Lightning squad that won the 2023 Netball Super League.
Lightning claimed the title on Sunday 11 June, after coming from behind to beat London Pulse 57-48 at London’s Copper Box Arena.
The final match took place after Loughborough beat Manchester Storm 63-59 in a semi-final match on the previous Friday evening.
Lauren made her debut for Loughborough in 2012 and has remained with the Lightning since, bar a single season with the now defunct Wasps. During this time, Lauren has amassed a tally of 105 Super League appearances.
Speaking about the final, Lauren explained: “In the first few minutes we went 8-2 down. I’d like to say none of us were worried!
“But I think the experience of the squad, the fact we’ve been in finals and the fact we’ve been behind in pressure games before meant that we knew we could come back.
“It did take us until the third quarter to get level but, when we got level, we never looked back.”
