Oakham School is delighted that Ili (Form 7) has been appointed a Chairperson for the prodigious Cheadle Hulme MUN Conference.
The conference attracts very high calibre candidates from across a range of academic schools. Despite a robust interview process Ili sailed through the process with flying colours due to her wealth of MUN experience and knowledge. Ili will join her Oakham peers who will be representing Israel and Brazil on a variety of significant committees.
Mr Ward, the Lead teacher of MUN, said “the role of Chair is fundamental in the success of any MUN conference and requires excellent soft skills so we are confident that Ili will do an outstanding job. It’s a real privilege and honour that we see yet another Oakham student holding court and demonstrates a high degree of knowledge of global issues. MUN is an excellent vehicle for student leadership and global awareness.”
Model United Nations provides a unique opportunity for young people to investigate the origin of, and background to, many of the problems and issues in the world today; and by seeking, through discussion, negotiation and debate, solutions to various problems which enables them to develop a far better understanding and appreciation of current global affairs.
