Congratulations to Form 7 MUN pupils who won Best Delegation (Ecuador) in the General Assembly at the Cheadle Hulme MUN Conference.
Three delegations from Oakham, representing New Zealand, Ecuador and Qatar, engaged in the long-established and prestigious Cheadle Hulme MUN Conference in which 400 pupils from 30 schools participated.
Pupils had the brilliant opportunity to debate topics such as reparations for slavery, the refugee crisis in Afghanistan, LGBTQ+ rights, and, of course, the situation in Ukraine and Gaza.
They discussed topics with admirable maturity and should be really proud of their performance. Though winning prizes isn’t at all the aim of the Conference, it was nice that we were rewarded for their hard work and efforts in the eyes of the pupils who were chairing the sessions.
Each delegate had to work in committees with separate agendas (Environment, Disarmament, Human Rights, etc) negotiating and debating with over 400 students from around the world.
MUN is one of the many activities that Oakham School pupils can participate in each week to develop their skills within the Connected Curriculum.
