Congratulations to Old Oakhamian and illustrator, Libby Armstrong (18), who has launched her new business, “Libby Armstrong Illustrations”, during lockdown.
Libby produces characterful original paintings/drawings/illustrations, fine art prints and greetings cards, specialising in pet portraiture, which are available to purchase through her website. Her compositions are hand-painted using a combination of watercolour and acrylic paints. Libby uses black pen and ink to inscribe additional detail.
Libbys says:
“I absolutely love the challenge of capturing each animal’s personality.
My initial inspiration has come from painting my miniature wirehaired dachshund, Gretel, who is just the sweetest, scruffiest little dog and loves nothing more than to watch me paint. Having seen a couple of paintings of Gretel, family friends started to request pictures of their pets, and word quickly spread that my paintings make very suitable and thoughtful gifts.
Lockdown has provided me with the perfect opportunity to explore setting up this venture as I have been able to put my newfound spare time to good use by independently creating and launching my own website as well as expanding towards producing fine art prints and greetings cards of my work. I now enjoy producing a variety of commissions in addition to pet portraits and have recently released my latest collection of prints and cards which you can purchase through my website.”
Libby’s illustrations are beautiful and definitely worth a browse! Good luck, Libby, we wish you all the best for the future.
