Pupils Cook up a Storm in Healthy Eating Roadshow
Form 1 pupils enjoyed a highly interactive healthy eating roadshow, completing their Form Time course on nutrition.
Presenter ‘Ben Chef’ fired questions at the pupils to see how much they had remembered from their studies; stressing the importance of eating breakfast and making good choices in the Barraclough Dining Hall so they have a balanced diet.
The highlight of the session was an exciting cook-off between two teams led by Mr Mayhew, Senior Deputy Head and Mr Cure, Head of Lower School. The teams were challenged to cook dishes in just 15 minutes before they were tasted by the audience and judged. The Green Peas team cooked Sweet and Sour Chicken, and the Red Chilli team cooked a vegetable lentil curry. The winning meal was the Sweet and Sour Chicken.
Viv Lamb, PSHE Coordinator, said, “The pupils really engaged with the session, and there was a huge buzz in the room. It was a great opportunity to reinforce the importance of healthy eating and how it can lead to better health, behaviour and improved concentration.”
