The end of the year Dance Showcase saw pupils from L1 to Form 4 give a remarkable performance of a variety of dance styles including street, jazz, musical theatre, jive and tap dance, to a selection of upbeat songs such as ‘I’m So Excited’, ‘Express Yourself’, and ‘Boogie Wonderland’.
Pupils have played a fundamental part in putting the show together by choosing their own music, rehearsing in their free time (even virtually), and choreographing their own sections in their pieces. Each class performed a dance of their own, before performing a larger group dance to finish off the showcase.
After having to perform virtually in last year’s showcase due to the pandemic, this year’s showcase held special significance as pupils were finally able to get back on stage in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, enjoying the thrill of dancing on stage once again.
Teachers of Dance Olivia Ward and Sarah Murphy said, “The showcase was a wonderful, ‘feel good’, uplifting evening displaying exceptional talent and we are very proud of all those who performed”.
