Scholars Shine in Stunning ‘Six: Teen’

18th March 2025

Oakham School’s Drama Scholars delivered an unforgettable production of Six: Teen, dazzling QET audiences with their electrifying talent and boundless energy.

The annual Scholars’ Production is always a highlight of the School’s theatre calendar, but this year’s show was a particularly sensational spectacle, as these young performers pushed the boundaries of their abilities under the expert guidance of Director Gilly Norell.

From the very first note, the cast commanded the stage with powerful performances, bringing history’s most iconic queens to life in a vibrant, modern reimagining.

The combination of vivid choreography, catchy musical numbers, and a simple yet striking set design created a dynamic visual experience that captivated the audience. The striking costumes were bold, colourful, and full of personality, helping to further elevate the production’s high-octane atmosphere.

But it wasn’t just the dazzling visuals that made this performance so memorable. The cast’s electric chemistry was palpable throughout. Each scholar fully embodied their character, blending humour with depth, wit with raw emotion. The quick-witted dialogue and clever reimagining of historical events kept the audience roaring with laughter, while the emotional weight of the show’s themes resonated long after the final note was sung.

Behind the scenes, the technical crew’s hard work was just as apparent, with smooth technical elements enhancing the overall quality of the show.

Director Gilly Norell praised the performers for rising to the challenge. “Six Teen pushed our young actors to the limit.”

“They were singing and dancing nonstop for over an hour and a quarter. It required an incredible level of stamina, focus, and dedication. They couldn’t let their energy drop for a single moment, and they absolutely nailed it.”

Like last term’s Sweeney Todd, the Drama Scholars’ production of Six: Teen showcased the exceptional talent, discipline, and passion of Oakham School’s drama students.
