The competition saw Sofia win her first heat with a PB of 40.3s and the semi in a PB of 40.1s.
Sofia said, “I went into the event with no real expectations of winning a medal. In each round I gained a new PB and started to believe I could come in the top 3. It is a fantastic feeling to win my first national indoor medal and I’m looking forward to the outdoor season”.
Director of Athletics, Tref Vandoros said, “I am very proud of Sofia, it is a huge achievement. Also running two personal bests in only a few hours in the run up to the final and then another in the final is an impressive effort indeed.”
Sofia is no stranger to success breaking school records and winning 3rd place in the 200m at the Birmingham Indoor Games last year.
